Did you know, a friend emailed me the other day, your new book is all over the window in Daunt’s?
I didn’t.
Intrigued, I walked across the Heath to take a look. And, yes, there in the window – half, let it be said, the main window – was a blow-up of the paperback cover of Good Bait, surrounded by numerous copies of the book itself and extracts from a selection of positive reviews. Good for the soul. Possibly even good for the royalty cheque when it comes.
I went inside to find out whose idea it had been and to offer thanks. One of the staff had realised the opening chapter of the book, in which a body is discovered beneath the frozen surface of a pond, takes place just a healthy stone’s throw away from the store. I had walked past the spot, in fact, on my way over. Once they’d realised that, giving the book due prominence made a great deal of sense.
Well, hooray! And Daunt Books, thank you so much.

Better pop a dead body in Daunt’s in your next book- should get even better promotion!
It’s the best feeling, isn’t it! Having a similar experience right now. Best of luck with Good Bait.
must be lovely to have at least two book shops within walking distance! Plus having your very own book prominently displayed in one.
